Life Coach is a form of help that involves supporting someone whilst they work out what they want to achieve and the best way to go about it. The coach’s focus is on empowering individuals to make the most of their skills and abilities, or to put it another way, their personal effectiveness. Similarities between counselling and coaching do exist. We would focus on raising your awareness and to explore the needs and opportunities for change.
However, the main difference between coaching and counselling is that coaching always relates to the future. Acknowledging past mistakes and successes may feature but coaching will always return to, and focus upon, future behaviour and action. Coaching builds on existing strengths, whereas counselling is more likely to be reparative and aimed at alleviating distress.
